Simón García-Miñaúr
b. Bibao, Spain
Simón García-Miñaúr creates video installations and short fiction films that construct an opposition between two worlds. He uses religious and technological tropes to represent the ways in which relationships are fueled by faith and trust. His queer narratives explore the fringe; mobilizing cyborg figures to destabilize socially constructed binaries. Here, the promise of possibility and the dangerously delusional collide, unveiling oppositional yet enchanting worlds.
A Basque filmmaker based in San Francisco, García-Miñaúr completed his film studies at the Catalan Cinema School in Barcelona, ESCAC in 2013 and received his Master of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute. His work has been shown in film festivals such as the SEMINCI in Valladolid, Spain, and his video work has been exhibited at Aggregate Space Gallery (Oakland, CA); Root Division (San Francisco, CA); and Noroof Gallery (San Francisco, CA).
