Paula Morales
b. Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
Paula Morales investigates the space between analogue and digital realms. Through her harlequin GIFs, video, and installation work, she questions the image origin, tightly executing hyperbolic recontextualizations and color studies. Morales’ work manifests as digital image, mesmerizing projections and humorous installation work where she incorporates industrial and kitsch materials.
Morales’ has exhibited widely in Central America, and nationally at R/SF projects (San Francisco, CA); Roll Up Gallery at Public Works SF (San Francisco CA); and Pro Arts Gallery (San Francisco, CA). Her work has been featured in Issue #57 of Hayden’s Ferry Review (2015), on Soundcloud Inc (2015) and the FOTOSÍNTESIS la fototeca exhibition in conjunction with National Geographic Magazine (2013). Morales has done art direction and design work for music videos and publications such as Catafixia Editorial. She lives and works in San Francisco.
